Do I need a coach to improve? The answer to that question all depends on what your objectives are and how much effort and money you are willing to invest. This website is not meant to replace a proffesional coach, but does provide some information targeted for those who wish to do self coaching. This approach maybe sufficent for some and will get you started.
The approach to coaching is divided into three main areas.
Training |
Training consists of having a plan. The plan needs to be based on what you wish to accomplish. If your objective is to ride your first double century and do it in a way to insure you finish, then the plan would include what type of cyling to do, how often, how far, to get you ready. See our overview section on training. |
Monitoring |
Monitoring is measuring and recording what you are doing. It can be as simple as keeping a simple log of your workouts, and as sophisticated as using taboratory testing. Monitoring your efforts while cycling can be done with an inexpesnive heart rate monitor or in a more sophisticated way with a power meter. See our overview section on monitoring. |
Nutrition |
Proper nutrition, bother before and during the event, is key to making sure you finish wiht the dreaded bonk. See our overview section on nutrition. |
